Biography
I was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. I received BS and MS degrees in Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University, Korea and have worked as a structural engineer in Agency for Defense Development, Korea for the following 5 years. After all the years of working on huge systems including missiles and airplanes, I decided to take the challenge of going into the other limit - micro/nanoscale world. I'm currently working toward the Ph. D. degree at University of California, Los Angeles, focusing on biomedical application of micro/nano technology. I'm also a happy (and busy) father of Minhong and Daniel.
Professional Experience
Agency for Defense Development, Daejon, Korea (1999-2004)
Researcher, Department of Missile Airframe and Launcher Development
- Worked on the development of cold launching system for Korean Mid-range Surface to Air
Missile(KMSAM) and launcher for Korean Portable Surface to Air Missile(KPSAM). - Successfully developed various structural system and components which involved high-speed large deformation, contact, impact, fracture, fluid dynamics, and fluid-structure interaction.
- Experienced with whole development cycle of weapon system, ranging over conceptual design, detailed design, manufacture, component test, and field test of complete launching system.
